Mary Kay History

Mary Kay was founded in 1963 by legendary and extraordinary entrepreneur, Mary Kay Ash. She was considered one of the pioneers of the beauty industry at that time. She only had 5 products in a 500-square foot store in Dallas, Texas. Mary Kay Ash had a dream to inspire women all over the world to take control their lives and change their finances. She wanted to teach other women how to also teach other women how to transform their lives. 

Mary Kay Ash is no longer with us, but has been going strong for almost 55 years. The company is still being run by her family, one of her nephews runs the company now. There are over 3.5 million beauty consultants that includes over 35 countries. With more than 200 products available, the company ranks high in the cosmetic industry.

Mary Kay’s achievements, does not include just sales. The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, which is now called the Mary Kay Foundation, was founded to fund and research cancers that affect women and to help fight violence against women. The company has a gone green, and has a corporate recycling program. Consultants can return product packaging to be recycled.

I can think of a lot of great beauty companies out there, but the one that is at the top of my list is Mary Kay. Yes, the company has great products, but so do other companies. It is the love and caring for women and the business opportunity that would allow women to experience financial freedom.
